The beauty of flowers is undeniable, and is a gift in and of itself. Yet for hundreds of years humans have also given every plant particular meanings.

For those who wish to add a second layer of meaning to your floral designs, let me know what you would like to say, and I’ll find the flowers & create a design that speaks your words. There are flowers which mean everything from “humor” to “strength,” “friendship” to “enduring love” and “admiration.” If you would like to give flowers that convey an extra, deeper meaning, I will translate your message into the language of flowers. Do we only do floral design with floriography meanings? No: We create a wide array of floral designs. If you’d like particular meanings in your florals, we can do that. Not so much? —That’s fine, too.

    For tabletop arrangements and bouquets please purchase through our online store. We look forward to designing for you!

  • Parsley & Rue is a Slow Flowers Member: we are committed to using local, seasonal flowers & sustainable design mechanics.

    Most tabletop arrangements or bouquets will be ready for you within 2 business days.

  • Parsley & Rue’s floral design studio is located in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood of Seattle.

    Pick up from our studio is convenient: only a few minutes from both I-5 and Highway 99, close to Woodland Park Zoo, Greenlake and Ballard.

    We deliver bouquets and tabletop arrangements to the greater Seattle area: please let us know where your recipient is located & we’ll let you know if they are within our delivery area.

Sustainable, garden-style arrangements & installations created with local, seasonal flowers and no-foam, eco-friendly mechanics (foundation items that hold the design together.) On-site or a la carte. Bring your ideas & we’ll work with you to create your sustainable floral vision. We strive hard to make not only the end result beautiful, unique and spot-on, but the entire floral process smooth, positive and completely transparent. —Flowers should be fun!

FLORIOGRAPHY FAQS

Your custom floriography will be beautiful, but will its meaning be understood?

To help translate the meaning behind the flowers, we provide beautifully printed cards indicating which flowers have been used, and their meanings.  If you’d like to receive the meanings to include in your own event’s collateral (ex. Letting your wedding guests know in your program the meaning behind your wedding party’s flowers), we will email you with the flowers to be used, and their meanings, as early as possible in the design process.  

I am a store owner and would like to add particular meanings — and the flowers that represent them — into our brand.

Wonderful! Branding with floriography is new, different, and definitely on the leading edge. It's that little extra something. We love hearing about your business ethos, helping you translate that into words, and creating designs that bring those meanings into floral reality. After we discuss your brand, ethos and needs, we will provide a list of the flowers & foliage we will be using to convey your chosen meanings, as well as a palette card, so you can get right to work adding these elements into your brand kit while we get to work designing for you!
